Outside of the Box: Hearty Mac N’ Cheese

An American classic through and through, Mac N’ Cheese has become a staple pantry item for many. While most of us have wandered far off the path of the homemade “real cheese” variety, opting instead for the heavily processed, powdered versions fed to us by the heavy hitters and money makers of the processed food world, we can still say “Yes!” to homemade deliciousness and “Pass” to the undernourishing, overhyped bore of the boxed variety. Let’s take those boxes off the shelves, and get the real deal into our bellies, using nutritious, healthy and whole ingredients. Let’s celebrate how delectable real Mac N’ Cheese tastes (aka how Mac N’ Cheese should taste) while proving how simple it is to make. Make that go-to meal all that it should be: quick, simple, mouth-watering, and as healthy as can be. Put the “mmm” back in the mac(aroni).
