The Potters’ Guild of New Jersey will host “Earth Into Art Encore”
and sale of functional and sculptural ceramics at the Clifton Art Center, at 900 Clifton Avenue (Well Road), Clifton, NJ 07013. The dates of the exhibition are January 18 through February 25, with a reception on January 21, 1:00-4:00pm (snow date January 22).
This event is expected to draw hundreds of art collectors throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. There will be 25 potters from the area exhibiting their work this season.
Nancy Zarbock is one of Hunterdon County’s featured artists: Offering acrylic paintings and large ceramic wall plaques. Nancy’s paintings display an affinity for bright, vibrant colors, particularly reds and yellows, expressing energy and ecstasy.
The general method for these paintings was to apply a thin layer of binder mixed with pigment directly onto uncoated and untreated canvas, and to paint significantly thinned oils directly onto this layer, creating a dense mixture of overlapping colors and shapes. Her brush strokes were fast and light, with total lack of figurative representation.
Nancy’s colorful and expressive ceramic wall plaques represent a painterly approach to ceramics. The process for painting the ceramic forms was applying multiple layers of paints, with a final firing of a transparent glaze.
Available for sale will be a fabulous selection of juried artwork, wall pieces, functional and decorative ceramics, paintings, and one-of-a-kind sculptures and decorative objects of art. For directions to the show, see the Clifton Arts Center website or contact Terrill Hiel at tbhiel@optonline.net
