Fans invited to celebrate Team USA at exclusive donor reception in Greenwich, Conn.
Athlete guests include Shawn Johnson, Lolo Jones, Apolo Ohno
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– In anticipation of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) is hosting an exclusive donor reception for Olympic enthusiasts in Greenwich, Conn., on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Held in the home of U.S. Olympic Foundation Trustee Perri S. Procida and her husband, Mario, this event will bring the excitement of the Olympic Games to the Greenwich community.
Joining the festivities are three of America’s most renowned Olympic athletes:
- Shawn Johnson, gymnastics: 2008 Olympic gold medalist
- Lolo Jones, track & field: 2008 Olympian, 2008 World Indoor champion – 60m hurdles
- Apolo Ohno, short track speedskating: eight-time Olympic medalist
The April 2 event will include opportunities to meet the athletes, find out more about Team USA and learn how to join the U.S. Olympic Team in London in 2012. Guests and Olympic enthusiasts will experience a festive evening designed to capture the spirit of the Olympic Movement while enjoying great conversation and delicious food. The Olympic reception will be hosted by a dynamic committee of Olympic supporters, including Susan Chapman, Christy Gordan, Boo Huth, Suzy Malloch, Mary Q. Pedersen, Perri S. Procida, Kathleen Snoddon, Amanda Spyrou, Lisa G. Stuart and Alison Troy.
The USOC’s mission is to support U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes in achieving sustained competitive excellence while preserving the Olympic Ideals, thereby inspiring all Americans. The U.S. Olympic Team does not receive direct federal funding for athlete programs, and instead, proudly receives support for training, competition and sport development from Americans who believe in the Olympic Movement.
