New Jersey Baseball During the Civil War Era (1855-1870)

John Zinn, a historian with special interest in the Civil War era and baseball history, will speak on baseball's beginnings in New Jersey, prominent teams and players. He will describe the Civil War's impact on the game's development and how NJ soldiers took the new game with them to the front. He will also explain how the game differed from the modern sport, especially with regard to rules and equipment (or the lack thereof).
