Mission Statement ~ Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts a unique Westchester County setting of Italianate architecture and gardens enriches the lives of its audiences through innovative and diverse musical performances of the highest quality, mentors young professional musicians, and engages young children through interactive, educational experiences that deepen their relationship to and understanding of music.
Description ~ Caramoor is renowned for its annual Summer International Music Festival, which attracts the world's greatest classical, operatic, and jazz artists, and where the Orchestra of St. Luke's enjoys an official residency. The Caramoor estate is situated on 90 lovely acres, with two outdoor performance venues: the Venetian Theater (capacity 1,710) and the Spanish Courtyard (capacity 615). The grounds provide an enchanting garden setting, as well as a place for pleasurable strolling and picnicking. Its nine unique gardens were planned to enhance the site's musical offerings as demonstrated in its family-friendly programs: Dancing at Dusk and Concert Al Fresco. During the spring and fall, concerts are held indoors in the elegant Music Room of the Rosen House, where chamber music, mid-week recitals, and cabaret concerts are presented. The Rosen House was formerly the home of Caramoor's founders - Walter Tower Rosen and Lucie Bigelow Dodge Rosen. Their extraordinary collection of Renaissance and Asian art and their love of music were the seeds of the musical programming at Caramoor.
