Stargazers – the diehards and the newly curious -- are invited Saturday, Jan. 29, to the Meigs Point Nature Center at Hammonasset Beach State Park for an evening under celestial lights.
Christopher Pimler, a devout amateur astronomer, will open the program at 4:30 p.m. with a review of telescope basics, including scope calculations, and which types of lenses tend to deliver the clearest images. Pimler and Ranger Russ Miller, at around 6:30 p.m. that same Saturday, will then escort stargazers out to the fields of Hammonasset for a look at the night sky. A night hike will work as a contingency plan if it’s cloudy outside.
Adults are encouraged to bring their children. Call 203-245-8743 or 860-462-9643 for additional details.
