Films The Signalman(1976, 39 minutes) Director: Lawrence Gordon Clark An unnamed traveler (Bernard Lloyd) encounters a signalman (Denholm Elliot) on a lonely stretch of railway in the remote English countryside. Haunted by premonitions of an impending disaster, the signalman spins a chilling, supernatural tale. Andrew Davies skillfully adapts the Dickens short story in this memorable episode of the BBC's "Ghost Story for Christmas" series. The screening will be held on Dickens's 200th birthday anniversary, with an introduction by Declan Kiely, Robert H. Taylor Curator and Department Head, Department of Literary and Historical Manuscripts, The Morgan Library & Museum.Tuesday, February 07, 2012, 7 p.m.*Exhibition-related films are free with museum admission.
