Language Development

Communication is an essential life skill. In order for a child to communicate effectively they need to understand, develop and acquire language. Each seminar will focus on providing parents with general information regarding both receptive and expressive language development. Subject matter will range depending on the age-group; however, the focus will be to provide parents with information and strategies to promote language development as well as expand general knowledge of language acquisition.

Early language development
Eye contact, joint attention, turn-taking
Early speech sounds and sound imitation
First words and what if they don't come?
Expanding sentences
Asking and answering questions
Listening skills
Song and nursery rhymes
Reading and how to introduce it
Language lessons in the home
This is an 1 time hour seminar. We will meet on Tuesday, February 7th at 6:00 pm. Registration is $30 for the seminar.
