What is this film festival about anyway?
Telling Stories – Shaping Dreams” is the theme for this year’s event, which includes a moderated movie industry panel and a filmmakers roundtable on April 7th, followed by the screening of the selected short films on April 8th. The festival, which grew out a classroom project, has crystallized into a platform for burgeoning filmmakers, and provides real time project management experience for the school’s media management students.
When is it?
The film festival is a two day event from 6-9 p.m.
Thursday April 7th and Friday April 8th 2011
Where is it?
The Festival will be held in the MCNY Conference Center, 431 Canal Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY
10013 on the corner of Canal and Varick Streets.
How do I get to the school?
By Train you can take the A, C, or 1 Train to Canal
Street. If you are traveling by car: The College can be
reached from the West Side Highway or the East River
Drive by exiting at Canal Street and driving to the corner
of Varick Street. Parking is available in private lots.
If I am a filmmaker how can I participate?
Any filmmaker with a short film of 10 minutes or less
can participate in the film festival. You can download
your film via our Facebook™ page at “Metropolitan
College of New York 2nd Annual Short Film Festival”,
or via www.withoutabox.com
What are the criteria for your films?
Outside of a time limit of 10 minutes, we are looking for
creativity and quality short films. Keep in mind this is a
school run event so excessive profanity, nudity, hate or
violence inducing content will definitely have an impact
on whether your piece is selected to be screened.
Who judges the films?
The initial review is done by a jury panel comprised of
other amateur filmmakers, MCNY Media Management MBA alumni and current Media Management MBA students. Once we narrow our search down, final sections will be made by our industry judges who each have expertise in the industry and will be on hand at Friday’s screening to announce top entries.
