Child Welfare - Essex County     This workshop addresses the overrepresentation of children and youth with special needs in NJ’s child welfare system.Youth involved in NJ’s child welfare system do not lose their rights to appropriate education or health services; their parents also continue to maintain their rights to participate in decision-making regarding their youth’s education and health, unless their parental rights have been terminated.The workshop will provide a brief overview of NJ’s child welfare system and then describes the education and health rights of juveniles in the child welfare system.
